Dancing freedom

To the drum’s beat they’re moving, yet
she oscillates to the bass line,
pleasing herself, with no regret.
To the drum’s beat they’re moving, yet
lo[o]sing herself, she forgets
the crowd’s converging sense of time.
To the drum’s beat they’re moving, yet
she oscillates to the bass line.

The refrain came to me while watching “Soul Sister”, the Tina Turner musical, at the Bristol Hippodrome last night

    • oy, i feel for you with that presentation…i used to give corporate presentations and def there is little luck to the draw at times….esp in that slot after the big social event…smiles…

    • I like Tina Turner, but I wouldn’t describe myself as a huge fan, but I have to say I really enjoyed the musical. They had us all up dancing on our feet come the end, and I was fascinated with the actress’s ability to imitate Tina’s idiosyncratic movements and expressions. It would have been easy to ham it up too much, but she got it about right. Good fun all round!

  1. Oh what fun. I saw her many years ago. She puts so much of her soul into her performances. I admire her because of her talent, and because she hasn’t allowed age to slow her down.

  2. there’s something magical in well played bass lines…def. can understand that she forgets everything around her, getting in that swing with the sites… nice…
